WASHINGTON, D.C. - This week, Giant Oak Founder and CEO Gary M. Shiffman, Ph.D.,
announced Giant Oak’s support for the Anti-Human Trafficking Intelligence Initiative at ATII’s first annual Follow Money, Fight Slavery Summit.

ATII combats global human trafficking by promoting corporate social responsibility through
increasing awareness, facilitating intelligence integration and technology advancement, and encouraging strategic data collaboration. In this virtual summit, they brought together Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) officers, financial crime investigators, regulators and others to promote corporate social responsibility.

“I am grateful to ATII for helping to bring together experts to discuss ways that financial
institutions can take action against the inhumane crime of human trafficking,” said Shiffman. “Technology such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning enables us to have an impact on human trafficking today that we couldn’t 10 years ago. Machine learning allows the ATII community to access more data across the internet, in curated forms, and in transaction monitoring systems, which can help identify patterns of human trafficking previously observable."

Shiffman, who is also the CEO and co-founder of Consilient and the creator of Dozer and GOST, spoke on the Technology and Data Panel on Thursday, March 11. Shiffman provided insights and expertise on everything from how children are targeted for human trafficking to what kinds of technologies are currently being implemented in anti-trafficking operations. Shiffman is an applied micro-economist and business executive working to combat organized violence, corruption, and coercion. He previously served as a U.S. Navy Surface Warfare Officer in the Pacific Fleet with tours in the Gulf War, as an official in the Pentagon, and a senior executive in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

GOST (Giant Oak Search Technology), has been used to track and screen human traffickers using publicly available information (PAI) that would otherwise go undetected. GOST is a trusted tool that enables businesses in any industry to screen and continuously monitor large sets of people and companies quickly and efficiently.
