El Riesgo Latente de la Corrupción del Cliente PEP y como Atenuarlo

by Lauralee Dhabhar, on Sep 23, 2020 12:37:32 PM

A Politically Exposed Person (PEP) is an individual who is entrusted with a prominent function including executives of state-owned corporations, politicians, military officials, head of state, and diplomats. Due to their positions of influence, PEPS are more susceptible to bribery, intimidation, and corruption. As such, financial institutions must adhere to special regulations for screening individuals appearing on PEP lists.

On September 22nd, Giant Oak Social Scientist Christopher Wall led a Spanish language webinar with guest panelists President of the Financial Intelligence Network Marilu Jimenez, Chief Compliance Officer for MMG Bank Corporation Natibeth Kennion, and Director of Corporate Compliance for FirstBank Puerto Rico Carman Pagan to explore the incidence of PEP corruption within the United States and Latin America. As  financial sector experts, the panel offered insights into how PEPs are processed today and the opportunities available to mitigate corruption risk. Watch the full recording below.
