Machine Learning (ML) is everywhere, and new innovations occur daily. During our September 8th webinar, CEO Gary M. Shiffman, PhD and Consilient Co-founder Juan Zarate walked us through two of the latest forms on machine learning to hit the risk and compliance realm: Federated Learning and Transfer Learning.

Federated Learning - a machine learning practice in which a "traveling algorithm" is trained. The algorithm goes to the data. Privately held information never needs to leave its secured environment.

Transfer Learning - is a machine learning method where a model developed for a task is reused as the starting point for a model on a second task. With each successive task (or query), the model (algorithm) improves. Data is sent to the algorithm.
